What Our Customers Are Saying
Building decks in Surrey
Surrey covers more ground than anywhere else we serve, and conditions vary widely across it. Toward South Surrey and White Rock, ocean exposure and view lots drive demand for glass railing, where the entire point is not to interrupt the sightline. Salt air is a real consideration for hardware selection there.
Further inland, in Cloverdale, Newton and Fleetwood, lots tend to be larger and flatter, and freestanding or low-level decks are more common. Newer subdivisions generally have straightforward framing to build from; the older stock more often warrants a structural look before anything new is attached to it.
We work throughout South Surrey, White Rock, Cloverdale, Newton, Fleetwood, Guildford, Panorama Ridge and Crescent Beach.
For Surrey specifically, composite makes most sense on open-air decks where water drains through the board gaps to the ground below. If there is enclosed space underneath, composite alone will not protect it and a waterproof membrane system is the correct choice instead.
Permits in Surrey. Most deck projects in Surrey require a building permit. Which rules apply depends on how high the deck sits above grade, whether it is attached to the house, and the setbacks that apply in your zone. Requirements and processing times are set by the municipality and do change, so we confirm the current position directly with the city on every project rather than working from memory. We prepare and submit the application as part of the build.
